Jan 27,  · Opabinia is an extinct stem-arthropod genus found in Cambrian fossil deposits. The only known species, O. regalis, is known from the Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale Lagerstätte of British Columbia, Canada. Opabinia was a soft-bodied animal of modest size, and its segmented body had lobes along the sides and a fan-shaped tail.

Opabinia (Part 2) Opabinia was a Cambrian invertebrate probably related to today's velvet worms. It was also related to Anomalocaris, which probably sometimes ate Opabinia.

Opabinia. Opabinia, another small Cambrian critter, grew to eight centimeters (about three inches). This creature likely caught prey with the grasping claws of its long, tube-like proboscis and then stuffed the food into its mouth — much as an elephant uses its trunk. Opabinia may have even used its proboscis to pull worms out of their burrows.

Opabinia biography OPABINIA, named after an underwater creature with five eyes and a cleaner-like mouth in the Cambrian over 5 hundred million years ago, were founded as a short-lived one-off trio by three renowned, talented progressive rock-related artists - Natsuki KIDO (guitar; Bondage Fruit, Korekyojinn, P.O.N., Kazutoki Umezu Kiki Band, Salle Gaveau, etc.), Kazuto SHIMIZU (keyboards.

In fact, Opabinia was not an arthropod — it lacked the namesake trait of arthropods: jointed legs. However, at various times, scientists have hypothesized that it was a crustacean or a trilobite — both arthropods. Now it’s clear why Opabinia has been so hard to fit into any familiar group. With its five mushroom-shaped eyes, clawed proboscis, and unusual body, Opabinia is simply very.

OPABINIA were temporarily formed as a three-piece one-off project in early s, that had released only one eponymous album filled with various tasty elements. As the song titles say, their bottoms of sound and play are drenched in funny, funky, skunky atmosphere also the project's name Opabinia, a strange underwater creature with five 4/5(2).
