    May 14,  · Though reputedly jazz-influenced, Affinity's released album is rock in the spirit of its age, composed mainly of radical interpretations of outside material. Lynton Naiff's Hammond playing and Linda Hoyle's Julie Driscoll-like vocal are the most prominent elements, but the sound tends to be a dense and intense melting pot of all its components, which, on the louder, faster sections seem to /5(43).

    Dec 09,  · Affinity (4) Affinity ‎ (CD, Album, RE) MSI (2), Repertoire Records: MSIF , REP WP: Japan: highly praised cover of ''All along the watchtower'' sounds too contrived to us and the lack of substantial melody on ''Three sisters'' is not very inviting, but on the whole this is an agreeable album within its genre.     Back in they released a great album simply called Affinity. It has been re-released on CD containing 8 bonus tracks (the original CD release only had a couple of the bonus tracks). It now contains all of Affinity's studio output. A subsequent CD has been released that contains live tracks recorded as an instrumental quartet (without Hoyle)..

If Linda Hoyle's talent for fusing the vocal traits of Bessie Smith, Grace Slick, and Sandy Denny together semi-successfully is the defining point, then Lynton Naiff's pounding Hammond workouts.
